A day in the life...

I'd rather be riding my motorcycle thinking about God than sitting in church thinking about my motorcycle.

ABATE of Arizona Chapter Report - Tucson

Our secretary Rich is running for the wall so here goes. We had another good meeting May 25. Afterwards, we road to check out a possible meeting location. The Hideout Lounge had invited us to have our monthly meetings there. The food and service were excellent. They don't open on Sundays as early as we would like. After the June meeting, we will check out the Eagles on Stone. Member Jim Deyoung is putting together a breakfast menu and will open as early as 10 AM.

Total funds as reported by treasurer Mike are in the black at $2,174.82. We will be spending some of that on our "LOOK OUT FOR MOTORCYCLE" banners. They will be displayed on a trailer we can move around town.

We handed out ballots and took a vote for our new board member. Sean Pinder was the big winner. He will represent Tucson at the quarterly board meetings.

Friends and family of Dickson Smith has sent a check in the amount of $500.00 to ABATE dedicated to the MAP program, it was a passion for Dickson Smith, he enjoyed presenting Motorcycle safety to the youth of Tucson.

Also reviewed the need for volunteers to help with the MAP program, also what it would take to convert the VCR to a DVD and at the same time insert some new public clips that are currently being showing on the networks promoting Motorcycle awareness.

We are in need of a Run Coordinator and a Safety Officer. The more members that are involved, the better.

Remember Too Broke For Sturgis, ABATE of Arizona's annual party July 25 - 27, 2008, at Mormon Lake Campground in Mormon Lake, AZ. It's called a "kick ass" party and all are welcome. Take a look at what's going on at http://www.toobrokeforsturgis.com/. The upcoming Too Broke for Sturgis event and ask for a show of hands several indicated that they plan on attending. Tucson volunteers to work Membership table, gate and security will be expected. The handful that plan to attend will likely ride up together WED evening or THU morning. Email will follow or contact Sean Pinder at sean_pinder@yahoo.com or (520) 258-9107.

Our annual event "Celebrate with ABATE" will be held the first Saturday in November. That's November 1st. We're looking for new ideas for the event and welcome any input you have. Keep in mind we're still searching for a Run Coordinator.

Our next fundraiser event, “Celebrate with ABATE", is planed for the first Saturday in November, discussed whether bike games should be part of the event it was expressed that it be kept to a poker run and raffle, the stops are to be determined yet, ideas and suggestions are invited.

Membership price increase will take effect as of July 1, 2008. Even if you aren't ready for renewal you can still send in your dues and beat the fee increase. Sandy will add one year to your next due date. The $5 you save, might buy you a gallon of gas.

The winner of the $75.00 dollar jar was Edward Birch who was not in attendance, so the dollar jar will continue to grow. Too bad, it could have paid for his renewal with change. Jim Kieninger won the 50/50 and donated his winnings of $13.00 back to the chapter.

Relayed that the the availability of AFLAC insurance to members of ABATE, as only members of a group are eligible for coverage.

Members are reminded to check their tire pressure on the hot AZ roads and check for any loose bolts from the temperature change.
