Lane filtering is allowed in Arizona
beginning September 24th.
Where is lane filtering legal in the
US?There are four states that allow lane
filtering: Arizona, Hawaii, Montana,
and Utah. The rules vary for each
state, so it’s important to understand
what they are before you travel to
these destinations.
How does lane filtering work in
Arizona?The speed limit can’t be greater than 45
mph
The motorcyclist speed can’t exceed 15
mph.
Traffic must be stopped.
To avoid a hook collision with a turning
vehicle at an intersection after filtering forward to the intersection, cyclists are taught to either take a position directly in front of the stopped lead vehicle, or stay behind the lead vehicle.
